The Mediterranean climate in South Australia enables it to grow the most intensely flavored and nutritious tree crops in the world.  Figs are native to the tropics and Australia.  There are about 800 different species of figs world-wide consisting of trees, shrubs and vines, all with milky sap.  These include edible figs, species yielding fodder, natural rubber and bark cloth.  Most are evergreen but some, such as the Ficus supruba var. henneana, are deciduous.  White Adriatic is an early one, good for jam, glace and fresh eating.   A full pound of luscious Australian Glace Figs.
