DRIED PAPAYA SPEARS

A  DELIGHTFUL GIFT OF THE TROPICS. Papaya is a tropical fruit with a wonderfully exotic flavor. Some say it's an aphrodisiac. Our papaya is sourced from Thailand, dried and sliced into chunks and dices.

Naturally sweet, it makes good  snack and lunch box treats. For colorful garnishing, sprinkle over cereals or  salads. Use as a tasty ingredient in breads, cakes, pies, and desserts.  1 0z of dehydrated papaya replaces a fresh fruit portion; it can be consumed as a complement to cereal.

Papayas grow large and sweet in Costa Rica's fertile, tropical lowlands. They have a rich, bright orange color and a soft, delicate texture.  The fresh papayas are sliced when they are sweet and perfectly ripe. They are placed in wooden trays and dried in wind ovens at a 60 degree Celsius temperature.  A delicious snack ready to be enjoyed at any time

Ingredients : Sun dried papaya slices. Sulfur dioxide added to retain color.

Item #UNC40270 - $8.99 per pound

Papaya (pa 'pie a) is available mostly year round.  Papaya resembles a melon in shape, size and texture and is grown on a tree.  The skin is thin, smooth and tough.  A ripened papaya has a light or deep yellow exterior.  The inside flesh may be yellow, orange, or a shade of salmon.   Papayas are juicy, sweet, and taste similar to a cantaloupe with a touch of pungency.  Its numerous peppery seeds are small and located at the center of the fruit.  Although most commonly eaten fresh, peeled, seeded, and served in wedges, papayas can be served in fruit salads, added to ice cream, baked and eaten as a vegetable, or pickled.  Papaya juice is blended into beverages and gelatins. Unripe, green papayas are boiled and served as a vegetable, or cubed and cooked in vegetable soup.
